Dakotah! Sport and Fitness has a Registered Dietician on staff that works with members by appointment.
Registered Dieticians (RDs) are members of the American Dietetic Association the nation's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. RDs must have four years of full-time study from an accredited college or university program that offers nutrition coursework based on scientific principles and taught by qualified instructors. RDs study a variety of subjects, including food science, nutrition science, research methodology, biochemistry, and pharmacology. After their schooling, RDs must perform a supervised internship. To become "registered", they must pass an extensive examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Every five years, RDs complete a minimum of 75 hours of continuing education to keep them on the cutting edge of today's nutrition knowledge. While doctors, nurses, health food store clerks, and gym nutritionists may offer you nutrition advice, very few professionals have the experience, education and training of RDs.
RDs are trained to translate nutrition research into healthful, tasty diets. They separate nutrition facts from fads, offer consultation to your primary care physician, and translate the latest scientific breakthroughs into information you can use. When you meet with our RD, she will evaluate all aspects of your life. What you are currently eating, your exercise level, your medical history and medications, your daily schedule, and your food preferences. She will help you develop a plan that gets you to your goals.
Our RD offers several different types of services. For pricing information, please contact the Fitness Manager at (952) 496-6890.
A biography of our RD is posted in the fitness area along with the phone number where she can be contacted. You may also call the fitness desk at (952) 496-6874
