- Why did you join Dakotah! Sport and Fitness?
To prepare for my annual, highly demanding, globe-spanning logistics operation. My primary goals were increasing my vertical jump capacity for rooftop landings and finding a reliable steam room to thaw out after a shift over the North Pole. Plus, you know, the mistletoe situation requires year-round charm maintenance. - How long have you been a member?
Since 1994. I’m pretty sure I helped lay some of the foundation stones myself! - What do you like best about Dakotah! Sport and Fitness?
The discretion of the staff! Nobody judges me when I request a specific protein shake recipe that tastes exactly like gingerbread cookies. The trainers here are absolute pros; they taught me the optimal deadlift form required to hoist a million-toy sack without engaging a single reindeer chiropractor. And frankly, the front desk team is more efficient than my head elf, Bernard. - What area(s) of the club do you use?
Everywhere! I hit the strength floor to work on my 'present-lifting' muscles, dominate the open pickleball times (the red suit is surprisingly aerodynamic), and frequent the hot tub and steam room—essential for avoiding frostbite during December deliveries. The Recharge smoothie bar is my go-to for mid-flight fuel simulation. - What are your fitness or health goals and how is Dakotah! Sport and Fitness helping you attain them?
My main goal is to strengthen my core so my belly doesn't jiggle like a bowl full of jelly when I laugh. The yoga classes are key for maintaining the flexibility needed to squeeze down narrow, 19th-century chimneys. Also, I need to work on my stress levels because that "naughty/nice" list audit every November is a killer. Nothing says “naughty list” like the members who sit on the equipment staring at their phones between sets! - Any tips for current or prospective members?
Consistency is key, even if you only work one month (day) a year! Ask the staff for help; they have better answers than the elves’ suggestion box. Remember: it’s all about balance. Enjoy the milk and cookies, but also get your movement and strength in! - Do you have a personal motto you’d like to share?
Make every trip around the sun count. Also, never skip leg day.
