While there’s still time to walk, run, or hike surrounded by the beautiful fall colors, Minnesotans know that we’ll soon need to move our physical activity indoors for the winter. The daylight hours fade, and we trade our favorite summer hobbies for shoveling driveways and scraping icy windshields. It’s not all bad though!
The colder months give us the opportunity to mix up our workout routine and try something new. The holiday season also almost guarantees an excess of calories from delicious food which aids muscle growth if focusing on strength training. Luckily for you, a Dakotah! Sport and Fitness membership grants you access to several options such as Group Fitness classes, open pickleball and basketball, free weights, resistance machines, our indoor walking track, and more!
Try out open swim or open skate in the aquatic and ice centers or utilize your preferred cardio equipment to get into 5K shape to walk, run, or jog with the whole family at the Dakotah! Sport and Fitness Turkey Trot 5K and Kids Half-Mile Fun Run on November 22! Our annual Turkey Trot is an amazing time for our local fitness community to come together, get active, and spend a couple of hours outside on a brisk, sunny morning before the Thanksgiving holiday. New this year, the SMSC will be matching a donation up to $10,000 from race fees, so every registration will help provide food assistance to those in need this holiday season.
