The month of STEP-tember is upon us and now is the time to get your steps in! This September, we’re highlighting the step machine (also called stair climber or step mill) and its effectiveness at providing a great low impact cardio and lower-body strength workout. If you’re looking for an opportunity to switch up your routine, stop by the Fitness Desk all month and grab either a 15-Minute Step Machine Workout or a September 11 Challenge—where participants climb the equivalent of 110 stories (approximately 2,200 steps) to honor and pay tribute to the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

This challenge is extremely demanding and can lead to strain or injury if using poor form or not in elite condition but serves as a powerful reminder of those men and women’s bravery and dedication.
