Pay Attention to Your Body
If it’s hot out, be sure to adjust your workout so you’re not putting too much stress on your body. Try decreasing your pace, shortening your intervals, or working out in the cooler morning or evening temperatures!
Cool Down with Water and Ice
Cold water and ice can lower your body temperature, and, in turn, improve your body’s performance in the heat. Take a cold shower before your workout, or rub ice on your neck, face, and forehead.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!
It can’t be said enough—it is extremely important to keep your body hydrated during the summer, especially when you’re working out. You should be drinking at least 12 to 15 glasses of water (96-120 oz) on a hot summer day.
Hit the Gym.
Although it may feel wrong to step inside during a beautiful summer day, gyms, including Dakotah! Sport and Fitness, are usually air-conditioned. You can always enjoy your cooldown outside!
